The purpose of this group is to provide support and networking for homeschooling families in the mid and lower RGV with children of all ages. Through networking we can facilitate activities, classes, cultural events, field trips and general gatherings. This is a place for homeschoolers to ask questions listen and learn, and relax with each other in a context where homeschooling, not religion or politics, is the primary common denominator. This is not to say that there will be no discussions of religious or political natures, just that when there are, and we disagree with one another, we will agree to disagree. We are a diverse group of families in Lower and Mid Rio Grande Valley. Our families cross the spectrum of homeschooling styles and educational philosophies. Our group is intended to be a low stress supplement for our members' homeschool experience. We are an inclusive group and open to new members both religious and secular.
Our goal is to provide a comfortable, safe, relaxed environment built on mutual trust and respect for the differences in each member family. This group will offer a variety of activites to any who are interested, including but not limited to outings at local parks, member homes, and interesting public places where our kids can have a good time and perhaps learn something as well. Our goal is to offer each other support and friendship in a time when those things are sorely lacking in our society. We strive to share services and offer strength and support, knowing that homeschooling is not always easy.
Our homeschool group has no fees and a relaxed approach to coming together as a group. There are no steering committees, classes, or planned meetings. We simply contact each other through email, phone or in person to offer ideas on activities, curriculum, and other homeschool related issues. If you want to schedule an activity, just let other members know, and each will participate as he or she sees fit.
